Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The manuscript is covered in focus and scope and proper to publish in this journal.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines. The manuscript is written according to template journal and the file type is .doc

Author Guidelines

1. General Author Guidelines 

All manuscripts must be submitted to CHEESA Editorial Office using Online Submission Service at the following URL address: https://e-journal.unipma.ac.id/index.php/cheesa/about/submissions, where Author should register first as Author role. If authors have any problems with the online submission, please contact Editorial Office at the following email: cheesa@unipma.ac.id to ask supporting helps.

The following documents should accompany the manuscripts submitted by online through online submission interface (please upload as Supplementary Files section):

  • Signed Copyright Transfer Agreement (CTA) form originally (scan the document after signed or signed electronically) [Download the CTA form here ]
  • Covering Letter which outlines clearly the basic novel findings of the paper and its significance.
  • Graphical Abstract as guided in this Author Guideline.

Two types of manuscripts are acceptable for publication in CHEESA: Research Articles, and Review Articles.

2. Cover Letter 

A cover letter is required confirming that all authors listed agree to the content and publication of the submitted manuscript and that the manuscript is original and not being considered for publication by another journal. 

A separate paragraph within the Cover Letter, consisting of one to two paragraphs, that justifies publication in the journal is also required. The justification should explain what new discovery, interpretation, understanding, or concepts in the manuscript, and how the content fits within the scope of the journal. Note that it is essential to describe how the content of the new submission differ significantly from existing literature information. This section plays an important role in editor's decision of whether or not the manuscript will be sent out to for peer review.

3. Manuscript Template

The manuscript should be prepared according to the following author guidelines in the MS Word (.doc or .docx) article template format which can be downloaded here: CHEESA Template (.doc)

4. Reviewing Process

Every submitted paper is independently reviewed (see Peer-Review Process Policy) by at least two peer-reviewers. Authors may suggest up to three peer-reviewers when submitted the manuscript. The decision for publication, amendment, or rejection as well as assigning peer-reviewers are based upon their reports/recommendations and made solely by Editor.

However, if Editor(s) or Reviewers consider a manuscript unsuitable for publication in this journal, a statement explaining the basis for the decision will be sent to the authors after the submission date after the preevaluation step.

5. Revision of Manuscripts

Manuscripts after revision should be returned to the Editorial without delay according to given deadline date.

The revised manuscript document files should be uploaded to the Online Submission Interface (https://e-journal.unipma.ac.id/index.php/cheesa/index) in the "Upload Author Version" from Review task window in Author window. 

The revised document files should include three files:

  • One (1) file of "Revision Notes / Response to Reviewers Comments" with respect to Reviewers comments including the location of the revision on the revised manuscript. Template MS Word File of this Revision Note / Response to Reviewers Comments can be downloaded here: [download Response to Reviewers Comments here]. 
  • One (1) file of "Revised Manuscript file" according to The Template-based format (MS Word file) (please indicate yellow-color texts in the highlighted revised sentences). 
  • One (1) file of "Graphical Abstract file" according to Guideline of Graphical Abstract in Section 6 

NOTE: Do not delete previous version of manuscript files, because Editorial will choose the latest version of manuscript. Do not compress to ZIP or RAR your submitted revised version files.

6. Graphical Abstract

This graphic should capture the reader’s attention and, in conjunction with the manuscript title, should give the reader a quick visual impression of the essence of the manuscript without providing specific results. The graphical abstract should be visually good interesting and meaningfull. The graphical abstract will be used for advertize your article after publishing officially in Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other. 

Graphical abstracts should be submitted as a separate file in the online submission system during your submission of revised manuscript or otherwise, it can be submitted by email to cheesa@unipma.ac.id after the manuscript has been accepted. Please state the manuscript number in your email subject.

Choosing/Creating a Graphical Abstract:

  • The graphic should be simple, but informative.
  • The use of color is encouraged.
  • The graphic should uphold the standards of a scholarly, professional publication.
  • The graphic must be entirely original, unpublished artwork created by one of the coauthors.
  • The graphic should not include a photograph, drawing, or caricature of any person, living or deceased.
  • Do not include postage stamps or currency from any country, or trademarked items (company logos, images, and products).
  • Avoid choosing a graphic that already appears within the text of the manuscript.

Image size: please provide an image with a size of 500 × 800 pixels (height × width).

Preferred file types: TIFF, JPG, PNG, PDF, or MS Office files.

7. The Manuscript General Guidelines

  1. The manuscript is the authentic research result that has not been published yet in other publication media or publishing houses.
  2. The manuscript does not contain any plagiarism element. The editorial board will directly reject the text that indicates plagiarism.
  3. The submission and the publication processes are free, without any additional fees.
  4. Manuscript accepted is written in standard English Language or the Indonesian language must be submitted through Online Submission System using Open Journal System (OJS) on the Cheesa E-journal portal (http://e-journal.unipma.c.id/index .php/cheesa). Then, register as one of the author or reviewer in the Register bottom [click REGISTER if you have not had any account yet; or click LOG IN if you have already had an account].
  5. The references of the article are in the form of journals and non-journals which are published in the last 10 years.
  6. All correspondences, information, and decisions for the submitted manuscripts are conducted through email was written in the manuscript and/or the emails used for the submission. The status of the manuscript can be checked in the OJS by logging in to the journal.
  7. The manuscript article writing guidelines and template can be downloaded in the right side bar. The template and the guidelines of the article writing are available in Ms Word (.doc) format.
  8. The manuscript online submission can be viewed in the part of online submission guidelines below.
  9. The manuscript which is inappropriate with the Cheesa writing guidelines will be returned to the author before the reviewing process.
  10. The manuscript should contain several aspects of a scientific article as follows: (subtitles as the order), which are: (a) the title of the article, (b) the authors name (no accademic title), (c) the afiliated author address, (d) the authors email (e) the abstract and the keywords, (f) the introduction, (g) the research method (h), the research findings and disscussion (i), the conclusion (j), the references.
  11. The manuscript can be written both in Bahasa Indonesia or English with the standard language.
  12. The manuscript should consist of fifteen (15) to twenty five (20) pages including pictures and tables. The manuscript written in Times New Roman 12, A4 paper format, margins: top 3; left 2,5; right 2,5; bottom 2, two columns (except for abstract, figure or table whose size cannot be reduced due to its readability) with the space between columns 1 cm, justified, 1.15 line-spacing.
  13. Each paragraph started 1 cm from the left side border while there is no spaces among paragraphs. All numbers are written in Arabic numbering format, except for the new sentence.
  14. The words from uncommon or foreign languages are stated in Italic format. For the article in Bahasa Indonesia, foreign terms or words should be avoided.
  15. The tables and pictures are placed in the text group after the referenced tables or pictures. Each picture must be given a caption (Figure Caption) below the picture and be numbered in Arabic numbering format followed by the picture title. Each table must be given a table title (Table Caption) and numbered in Arabic numbering format above the table followed by the table title. The pictures attachment should be guaranteed that they can be printed well (font size, resolution and line space are clearly seen). The picture, the table, and the chart should be placed in the center between text groups. If it has a bigger size, it can be placed in the center of page. The table should not contain vertical lines, while horizontal lines are allowed only for the important point.

8. Manuscript Preparation

INTRODUCTION (Times New Roman 12 bold)

Introduction contains research background and/or urgency, research context and research objectives. Problems, objectives and usefulness of research are written narratively in paragraphs, not to given special subtitles. The introduction is written in Times New Roman-12, with 1.15 space. Each paragraph is begun with a word in 1 cm from the left edge of each column.

RESEARCH METHODS (Times New Roman 12 bold)

The research method section contains an explanation of the tools and materials, research design and the steps, data collection techniques, and data analysis that conducted by author. The research method is written in Times New Roman-12 with 1.15 space. Each paragraph is begun with a word in 1 cm from the left edge of each column.

RESULT AND DISCUSSION (Times New Roman 12 bold)

This section contains a description of the results, data analysis and discussion of the author. The discussion contains the meaning of the results and comparison with theories and/or similar research results. Research results can be supplemented by tables, graphs, figures, and/or charts. The titles of tables and figures are centered bold and all words start with uppercase letters, except for conjunctions. Formula and equation must be written with application for example ChemBiodraw application. Dont give the equation with the figure in article. The results and discussion are written in Times New Roman-12 with 1.15 space. Each paragraph is begun with a word in 1 cm from the left edge of each column.

Conclusion (Times New Roman 12 Bold)

The conclusion section contain the research findings that can be the essence of the discussion results. If the author has suggestions for further research,it can be written in this section.

References (Times New Roman 12 Bold)

70% references at least 5 years back. The reference list contains sources in the form of books, research articles in journals or research reports (thesis and dissertation) with a minimum of 15 references for Research Articles and 30 references for Review Articles. The source reference referred in the article must be in the list of references and vice versa. The reference list is arranged alphabetically according to APA 6th edition with modification in Times New Roman-12 single space. Adding CHEESA citation style in MENDELEY reference manager is very recommended.

7. Instruction for Online Submisions

Author should first register as Author Role through the following website: https://e-journal.unipma.ac.id/index.php/cheesa/about/submissions

The author should fulfill the form as detail as possible where the star marked form must be entered. After all form textbox was filled, Author clicks on “Register” button to proceed with the registration. Therefore, Author is brought to online author submission interface where Author should click on “New Submission”. In the Start a New Submission section, click on “’Click Here’: to go to step one of the five-step submission process”. The following are five steps in the online submission process:

  1. Step 1 - Starting the Submission: Select the appropriate section of the journal, i.e. Research Articles, and Review Article. Thus, the author must check-mark on the submission checklists. An author should type or copy-paste the texts of Covering Letter in Letter to Editor.
  2. Step 2 – Uploading the Submission: To upload a manuscript MS Word file to this journal (do not upload as PDF file), click Browse on the Upload submission file item and choose the manuscript document file (.doc) to be submitted, then click "Upload" button until the file has been uploaded sucessfully. NOTE: Do not upload a cover letter and other supplementary files here.
  3. Step 3 – Entering Submission’s Metadata: In this step, detail authors metadata should be entered including the marked corresponding author. NOTE: Author must enter all Authors data here, not only the corresponding author. After that, the manuscript title and abstract must be uploaded by copying the text and paste in the textbox including keywords.
  4. Step 4 – Uploading Supplementary Files: Supplementary file should be uploaded including: Covering/Submission LetterSupporting Information (SI) (if any), and Signed Copyright Transfer Agreement (CTA) Form. Therefore, click on the Browse button, choose the files, and then click on the Upload button.
  5. Step 5 – Confirming the Submission:  Author should final check the uploaded manuscript documents in this step. To submit the manuscript to CHEESA journal, click the Finish Submission button after the documents are true. The corresponding author or the principal contact will receive a submission acknowledgment email and will be able to view the submission’s progress through the editorial process by logging in to the journal web address site. 

After this submission, the Authors who submit the manuscript will get a confirmation email about the submission automatically. Therefore, Authors are able to track their submission status at any time by logging in to the online submission interface. The submission tracking includes a status of manuscript review and editorial process.
