Author Guidelines

Author Guidelines

The Author’s Guideline of JIPM (Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan Matematika) since the publication of September 2017.

The manuscript is the authentic research result that has not been published yet in other publication media or publishing houses.

Manuscript accepted is written in standard English Language or the Indonesian language must be submitted through Online Submission System using Open Journal System (OJS) on the JIPM E-journal portal (http://e-journal.unipma.ac.id/index.php/jipm). Then, register as one of the author or reviewer in the “Register” bottom.

The length of the manuscript is approximately 16 pages, no less than 8 pages, written in Book Antiqua 11, A4 paper format, margins: top 2,5; left 2,5; right 2,5; bottom 2,5, one columns, justified, single-spaced.

The manuscript should contain several aspects of a scientific article as follows: (subtitles as the order), which are: (a) the title of the article, (b) the author’s name (no academic title), (c) the affiliated author’s address, (d) the author’s email (e) the abstract and the keywords (written in Indonesian and English).

The title of the manuscript must be as brief as possible and must represent the content of the manuscript.

Authors’ names are written below the title followed by authors’ affiliation (name of the affiliation, address, postal code, and country) and e-mail address.

The Abstract is written in two languages: Indonesian and English or only in English if the full text is written in English, as a representation of the manuscript. The abstract should not exceed 250 words for each language format, written narratively comprising aims/objectives, method, and findings of the research/article, in one paragraph.

Keywords: words or phrases which are important, specific, or representative to the article.

The manuscript must contain five main headings:

Pendahuluan (Introduction); Contains the background, rationale, and/or urgency of the research. References (relevant literature or research) need to be included in this section, in relation to the justification for the urgency of the research, the emergence of research problems, alternative solutions and the chosen solution. The method of writing sources in the text needs to clearly indicate the author's name and source citation, in the form of the year of publication and the page where the manuscript is located. An example is: ........ research results show that more than 70% of students are unable to recognize authentic problems..... (Retnawati, 2014).

The degree of up-to-date material referenced by looking at the proportion of the last 10 years and referring to primary literature. The problems and objectives, as well as the usefulness of the research, are written narratively in paragraphs, without needing to be given special subtitles. Likewise, operational definitions, if deemed necessary, are also written narratively.

The introduction is written in Book Antiqua-11 upright, with 1 spacing. Each paragraph begins with a word that is indented with 5 digits, or about 1 cm from the left edge of each column.

Metode (Method); Contains the type of research, time and place of research, targets/aims, research subjects, procedures, instruments and data analysis techniques as well as other matters related to the research method. targets/objectives, research subjects, procedures, data and instruments, and data collection techniques, as well as data analysis techniques and other matters related to the research method can be written in sub-subchapters, with sub-subheadings. Sub-subheadings do not need to be notated, but are written in lower case starting with a capital letter, Book Antiqua-11unbold, aligned right and left.

Especially for qualitative research, the time and place of research need to be written clearly (for quantitative research, this is also necessary). The research target/subject (for qualitative research) or population-sample (for quantitative research) needs to be clearly described in this section. It is also necessary to write down the techniques for obtaining subjects (qualitative research) and/or sampling techniques (quantitative research).

Procedures need to be described according to the type of research. How the research is carried out and the data will be obtained, needs to be described in this section.

For experimental research, the type of experimental design used should be written in this section. The type of data, how the data was collected, the instruments with which the data was collected, and the techniques for collecting it, need to be explained clearly in this section.

How to interpret the data obtained, its relation to the problem and research objectives, needs to be explained clearly.

(Note: Sub-sections can be different, according to the type or research approach used. If there are procedures or steps that are sequential in nature, they can be notated (numbers or letters) according to their position).

Hasil dan Pembahasan (Findings and Discussion); Research results are presented in graphical, tabular or descriptive form. Analysis and interpretation of these results are required before they are discussed.

Tables are written in the middle or at the end of each text describing research results/acquisitions. If the width of the table is not enough to write on half a page, it can be written on a full page. Table titles are written from left to center, all words begin with an uppercase letter, except conjunctions. If more than one line is written in single space.

The results are in the form of images, or data made from images/schemes/graphs/diagrams/similar, the presentation also follows existing rules; The title or name of the image is placed below the image, from the left, and given a distance of 1 space from the image. If there is more than 1 line, single space between lines.

The discussion focuses on linking the data and analysis results to the problem or research objectives and the broader theoretical context. The discussion can also be an answer to the question of why facts such as the data were found.

The discussion is written to be attached to the data discussed. The discussion should not be separated from the data discussed.

Simpulan (Conclusions); Conclusions can be generalizations of findings according to the research problem, and can also be recommendations for next steps.

Daftar Rujukan (References); Preparing a Reference List following standard techniques must be done standardly and consistently. To maintain consistency in referencing, citing and bibliography, you should use a Reference Manager application, such as Zotero, Mendeley, or another paid application with APA 6th style. Written in single space, the bibliography is spaced 1 space apart. The references of the article are in the form of journals and non-journals which are published in the last 10 years. Some examples of how to write references in the Bibliography are given below.
