Indonesia adalah salah satu bangsa yang memiliki latar belakang budaya yang beragam, sehingga berpotensi dihadapkan konflik yang bersifat multidimensional. Kondisi tersebut membutuhkan suatu usaha yang intensif, salah satunya pendidikan kedamaian. Pada praktik pendidikan kedamaian, tugas pendidik tidak hanya sekedar mengajar, tetapi juga harus berusaha menumbuhkan nilai-nilai kedamaian pada peserta didik. Pendidikan kedamaian tidak hanya dapat diimplementasikan di pendidikan tingkat menengah dan tinggi, tetapi juga sangat mungkin untuk diimplementasikan pada pendidikan tingkat dasar.
