Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan gambaran tentang kondisi kematangan sosial usia SD Awal yaitu kelas 1 yang baru memulai pendidikannya di tingkat sekolah dasar. Berangkat dari pengcamatan terhadap bagaimana para orang tua melihat kesiapan sekolah anak yang acap kali hanya didasarkan pada anak sudah bisa baca-tulis-hitung yang bagian dari raaspek kognitif saja. Jika menilik bagaiman proses pembelajaran di sekolah dasar seyogyanya kesiapan anak untuk berproses didalamnya tidak hanya didasarkan pada aspek kognitif tetapi juga pada aspek sosial dan emosional serta aspek
psikologis yang lain.
