And with this review, you’ll get a better understanding of this book that helps you acquire and re-discover ancient survival skills. I’m going to cover the vital bits and pieces to plant the desire to connect with the natural environment. What does the book The Lost Ways cover? A Detailed ReviewThe Lost Ways by Claude Davis is an extremely handy survival guide for all those people who are looking out for a convenient method to gain essential life skills. If you follow this book, you’ll be introduced to an array of survival skills that had been commonly practiced among our ancestors. According to Claude Davis, modern technology has grown in rampant strides making life extremely simple and comfortable for us. But, such changes will destroy us in the near future, which is why it’s essential to prepare ourselves for a catastrophe. Be it natural disasters, war, or economic decline. The author explains how we human beings have gradually lost our survival skills because of our growing dependence on technology for getting the work done. However, we need to acquire the survival skills and techniques to get through many shortages that life might offer. For instance; you need to learn to live without electricity, internet, refrigeration, electronic gadgets, air conditioning, and a host of other amenities. With this being said, Claude believes that it’s about time for Americans to get back to their roots. To understand how their ancestors have managed to survive several challenges that were present in their environment. Some of the vital topics that have been covered in this book are: How to cook nutrient-rich food using the recipes that were earlier suggested by the scouts of Native America. The process to collect and purify water for long-term storage. Guidance on hunting different animals. How to build underground houses for long and short-term shelter. Learning the art of making poultices by carefully selecting the ingredients that were earlier used by our ancestors.
The author states that when you learn these survival skills, you’ll be able to overcome all hurdles and hardships. You’ll also be equipped with the knowledge that you can share with others for their well-being.
Who is Claude Davis?Claude Davis is the well-known author of The Lost Ways, and an old-western survival expert for more than 30 years. He has learned to preserve the authentic skills and values of our ancestors. To reconnect with nature and to adapt the lifestyle of our great grandfathers he has been living in a self-build log cabin along with his fiance and two children. Apart from the cabin, he has been cooking with an open flame outside the house, and he wears hand-made clothes. The inspiration that he has drawn from his lifestyle has motivated him to put thoughts down on paper. In The Lost Ways, he also mentions that the world is about to hit a crisis shortly. And it’s best if we can learn to adapt ourselves according to the changing times from now itself. Otherwise, it’s not going to be very simple to overcome disasters. Therefore, when such knowledge is coming from someone who has been living closely with nature, it’s a lesson that we must give utmost importance to. Interestingly, Davis is also the editor-in-chief of askaprepper.com, a website where you can ask questions in regards to prepping and survival, without having to pay any additional charges. My experience after reading The Lost WaysI have been growing vegetables for my family on a small patch of land in the backyard. Apart from being an amateur farmer, I can also do a little fishing, and I learned to row a boat last summer. But, it was until recently that I realized my growing dependence on modern equipment for completing each activity. And I was further motivated on learning some basic survival skills. While I was on the search for some useful resources, I came across the book The Lost Ways on the internet. I was surprised by the broad range of information that is covered in this book, and every skill/ technique that is mentioned is devoid of any modern-day equipment. The book answers some fascinating questions that we generally find challenging in our day-to-day lives. And the ones that I found extremely beneficial are: The different ways to preserve meat without smoking or refrigeration What happens when there aren’t any antibiotics at home, and someone has fallen ill? What can be done when we need to hunt but we run out of ammunition? How to store water without wasting a dime?
This book covers a variety of ideas that I have started implementing in certain situations where I can avoid depending on modern technology. Davis has brilliantly blended the survival ideas of our forefathers with the skills used by real survivalists. Therefore, I didn’t find any challenges in applying these great ideas. Most of the techniques are simple to follow through, and I’ve gained a clear understanding of the ways to stay prepared for a disaster. Especially the suggestion of constructing bunkers as it has the potential to withstand the damage of a missile attack or devastating earthquake. With an increasing number of earthquakes and natural disasters taking place in different parts of the globe, it isn’t unsurprising to encounter more challenges shortly. Overall, I believe this book has come of great use in helping me take some proactive steps to a better life. This gradually helps to increase the chances of surviving a natural disaster. And I learned how for a nourished future, huge savings wouldn’t come of any use if we don’t learn to simplify our lives.
What are the drawbacks? With a host of life lessons that you’ll get to learn from this book, you can easily overlook the minor drawbacks. However, it’s best to be aware of it than being surprised in the end. One thing that stands out when you practice the skills mentioned in this book is the amount of time that is required to get things right. We have been spoiled in the last few decades with the era of modern technology, that has come with machines for every type of household work. And the simple, time-consuming steps can be intimidating for people who can’t make time in between their jam-packed schedules to get things done manually. Moreover, it requires a lot of patience and hard work to implement the survival skills used by our ancestors. Plus, it doesn’t come with any audio or video format, it’s generally availed in the form of an ebook. It has a high demand in the market, so, hard copies occasionally keep running out of stock. You’ll have to struggle to find one or order for the text in advance. Why should you buy this book?As you keep surfing the internet for the best survival books, you’ll find a ton of them. But, when it comes down to finding a complete package, The Lost Ways stands out amongst the rest. If you’re planning to get off-the-grid or if you’re preparing to survive through a crisis this book will come real handy. After all, we can’t always rely on modern equipment because you might never know what the future holds! This book covers a wide variety of survival topics as it lays down the step-by-step procedures making it simple to follow through. From growing your vegetables to designing bunkers, this book has a plethora of information to help you deal with natural disasters. And Davis has not only done a lot of research to put this book together, and he has lived his life applying all these remarkably simple steps along the way. So, you have it on a platter, all you have to do is- flip through the pages, learn the tricks, and start practicing for wholesome, minimalistic life.
